Houston Ship Channel Oil Spill LIVE Updates
A barge, containing 924,000 gallons of marine fuel oil, collided with another vessel in the Houston Ship Channel on Saturday. It led to the release of approximately 168,000 gallons of bunker fuel oil. Cleanup continues in response.

The Houston Ship Channel will likely remain closed for at least the rest of the day as skimmers work to remove oil from areas around the entrance to Galveston Bay. Patches of heavy, thick oil can still be seen floating on the water near the Texas City dike where a barge leaked on Saturday. This is Coast Guard Captain Brian Penoyer.
