Severe weather is passing over Houston for the next couple of hours. The Houston area had heavy downpours recently, and the ground could become quite saturated with today's rain. Jeff Lindner is a meteorologist with the Harris County Flood Control District.

Severe weather conditions are causing delays to bus service and rail. METRO is advising patrons to plan for longer transit times. Light rail service is currently available but high water may delay schedules. Bus service is operating on all routes but detours may be required due to flooding in some areas.

On the Houston Art Car Parade's Facebook page, they released a statement regarding the cancellation of the ball tonight and the parade delay until 3 p.m.
We regret to inform everyone that tonight's Legendary Art Car Ball has been cancelled due to severe weather conditions. We know you all were incredibly excited, and it makes us sad to have to do this. Should you have purchased a ticket in advance, we hope that you would consider it a donation to the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art.
